CELINA BUCKLEY is an artist, author and illustrator based in Co. Cork, working across visual storytelling, book illustration and participatory book-making with children and young people. She holds an MA in Children’s Book Illustration from Cambridge School of Art and a B.Ed from Mary Immaculate College.
Her practice spans illustration, visual art and arts education, with a sustained focus on narrative, observation and creative agency. Celina has published picture books in Ireland and internationally, including The Salmon of Knowledge, which featured on RTÉ’s Home School Hub. Alongside her studio practice, she has extensive experience designing and facilitating arts workshops with children and young people in schools, public libraries and cultural settings in Ireland, the UK and Europe.
Celina has worked with organisations and festivals including International Literature Festival Dublin, Kaleidoscope and Electric Picnic, creating participatory creative events for young audiences. Her visual art practice has been widely exhibited, and in 2023 she was selected as a finalist on Sky Landscape Artist of the Year. Her solo exhibition DOCKLANDS, supported by an Arts Council Agility Award, was presented at No. 1 Horgan’s Quay, Cork City.
Working primarily from direct observation, Celina’s visual practice explores the relationship between human and natural environments. Across all areas of her work, she is committed to developing high-quality, child-centred arts experiences that support curiosity, visual language and storytelling.
